About Mount Zion Baptist Church
Mount Zion Baptist Church is one of the oldest congregations in Nashville, Tennessee, organized in 1866 in the years following the Emancipation Proclamation. Founded by Reverend Jordan Bransford and inspired worshippers, the church has grown from its humble beginnings in the home of founding member Sister Mary Cole to a thriving multi-campus ministry under the leadership of Bishop Joseph W. Walker III. The congregation describes itself as a Word-centered ministry dedicated to evangelizing the lost, equipping believers, and serving the community and world. Mount Zion embraces a spirit of freedom in worship, believing that God should be worshipped in spirit and truth, and operates multiple campuses across the Nashville area to reach a growing membership of several thousand.
