Rodef Sholom Temple is a welcoming Conservative Jewish community in Newport News, Virginia, serving congregants of every age, background, color, and sexual orientation. The temple is steeped in the rich traditions of Conservative Judaism while embracing modernity, and offers a wide variety of spiritual, educational, cultural, and social programs. Their services are egalitarian and participatory, with all members having the opportunity to read Torah, lead services, and receive Aliyot. The prayerbook is liberally transliterated for those beginning to read Hebrew.
