About Fourth Baptist Church
Fourth Baptist Church was organized by missionaries of the Christian church in 1890 and established as an independent Baptist body on the fourth Sunday in May near Portsmouth's waterfront area. The congregation is committed to fulfilling the Great Commission as outlined in Matthew 28:19-20, and welcomes visitors to join in collective prayer for families, community, state, nation, and the world. The church offers a prayer line available on Sunday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., where ministers are available to pray with callers. Fourth Baptist Church also operates the Charles W. Beamon Life Application Center, a facility available for special occasions. Visitors are invited to experience this historic Portsmouth congregation and its commitment to serving the community.
