About Common Table
Common Table is a welcoming Christian community in Richmond, Virginia, formed by the union of two congregations. The church centers its identity around the weekly celebration of the Eucharist, where people of different traditions and backgrounds gather in worship and service. Rooted in the table manners of Jesus Christ, Common Table invites, welcomes, and nourishes its congregation while sending them out to serve neighbors with mercy and equity. The community explicitly affirms LGBTQIA+ siblings, celebrates people of all genders in leadership, and commits to antiracism work as part of its witness in Richmond. Belief is not required for belonging; the church embraces a radically inclusive vision where all are valued in God's image. In May 2025, Common Table chartered with the United Methodist Church while maintaining its multi-denominational character and commitment to Christ's universal church.
