About Tikvat Israel Congregation
Tikvat Israel is a Messianic synagogue located in Richmond, Virginia, at the corner of Boulevard and Grove near the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Founded over 30 years ago, the congregation is a member of the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations and represents a unique blend of Jewish tradition and Christian faith, welcoming both Jewish believers in Yeshua (Jesus) as Messiah and Gentile followers who support the community's mission. The congregation worships in a historic 1914 building that previously served as Grace Baptist Church and later as Keneseth Beth Israel, an Orthodox synagogue. Tikvat Israel's vision is to bridge the relationship between Yeshua, the Jewish people, and the Nations through faithful Jewish community life centered on worship, prayer, study, and social justice. The congregation emphasizes three core pillars: functioning as a synagogue, keeping Yeshua central, and maintaining integrity with God and humanity.
