Founded in 1984 by visionary members of the Roanoke Valley's growing Indian community, the temple was built to provide a space where members could practice their faith, preserve their cultural heritage, and gather for future generations. The temple features marble deity statues from Jaipur, India, and is distinguished by its Shikhara, a traditional Hindu architectural tower consecrated in 2012. Beyond worship, the India Heritage Society actively engages in charitable work, hosts cultural celebrations including the annual Festival of India each August, and organizes health fairs and community services. The temple welcomes visitors to experience Hindu worship and participate in the vibrant cultural life of this established community.
