About Baptist Children's Home
HopeTree Family Services, formerly known as Baptist Children's Home, has served vulnerable children, families, and adults across Virginia for nearly 140 years. Founded in 1887 by Baptist pastors and parishioners to address the care of orphaned children, the organization has evolved to provide comprehensive services including treatment foster care, residential programs for adults with developmental disabilities, therapeutic group homes, family-centered treatment, counseling, and an accredited academy. Operating from Salem, Virginia, and locations throughout the state, HopeTree remains committed to its Christ-centered mission of empowering individuals and strengthening families through compassionate care and evidence-based support. The organization serves as a mission partner of the Virginia Baptist General Association and continues to adapt its ministries to meet the changing needs of the communities it serves.
