About Providence Baptist Church
Providence Baptist Church is a historic Baptist congregation located in South Prince George, Virginia, with roots reaching back to 1854 when members from nearby churches gathered for worship in a brush arbor on local property. Officially organized in 1856, the church has served as a spiritual anchor for the community for over 150 years, guided by the conviction expressed in Matthew 16:18 that Christ's church would endure against all opposition. Under the current leadership of Pastor Rev. Brian Walker Sr., who began his service in January 2020, Providence Baptist has established 19 active ministries serving members across all ages and life stages, from youth and children's programs to senior ministries and specialized outreach efforts. The congregation gathers for Sunday worship at 11:00 a.m. with Church School at 9:30 a.m., and offers midweek Bible study opportunities on Wednesdays at both noon and 7:00 p.m. The church motto—"Building The Kingdom Of God With A Spirit Of Excellence"—reflects its commitment to faithful ministry and community service.
