Laurel Hill United Church of Christ in Suffolk, Virginia is a United Church of Christ congregation with deep historical roots dating back to 1877, when Jack Jones requested a place of worship for the Black community on the hill. The church has grown through the dedicated leadership of numerous pastors, most notably Rev. C. A. Harris, whose thirty-year tenure brought significant renovations and improvements, and Rev. Zanda Jenkins, who oversaw the construction of an educational building and major facility upgrades. Today, the congregation remains committed to its mission of proclaiming the Gospel of Christ and demonstrating His spirit through worship, witnessing, and service to the community and world. The church welcomes visitors to join them for Sunday worship and study, offering both in-person and virtual participation options, and maintains active ministries including children's programming and regular Bible study.
