About Buffalo Mountain Presbyterian Church

Buffalo Mountain Presbyterian Church, located in Willis, Virginia, is the mother church of six rock churches established by Reverend Bob Childress, whose life and ministry inspired the book "The Man Who Moved a Mountain" by Richard C. David. Organized in 1927 with its building dedicated in 1929, this is the largest of the historic rock churches known as "The Rock Churches of the Buffalo." The church takes its name from the distant view of Buffalo Mountain, which sits northwest of the property. Reverend Childress and his family are buried in the adjacent cemetery, connecting the congregation to its rich spiritual heritage.
