About Resurrection Lutheran
Resurrection Lutheran Church in Tacoma is a vibrant, welcoming community that gathers in grace, grows in faith, and goes with love. Led by Pastor Karen Bates Olson, the congregation emphasizes radical hospitality—children's movements and sounds are celebrated, and the church is explicitly a Reconciling in Christ congregation affirming LGBTQIA persons. Worship features contemporary and beloved hymns sung joyfully, with Holy Communion available to all, and services are live-streamed for those unable to attend in person. Beyond Sunday worship, the church engages deeply in community outreach through food bank donations, quilting circles, support for unhoused neighbors, and partnership with Jump Into Music. The congregation understands itself as gathered on the ancestral homelands of the Coastal Salish peoples and honors that sacred history.
