About Urban Grace: The Downtown Church
Urban Grace: The Downtown Church is an ecumenical, multicultural congregation in downtown Tacoma. Formed in 2005 by Tacoma faith leaders, it draws from Baptist and other denominational traditions, with roots reaching back to First Baptist Church of New Tacoma, founded in 1883. The congregation welcomes the full participation of all people, including LGBTQI+ and gender non-conforming people. Urban Grace values the arts, social justice, and ministry with people who are poor or marginalized, and gathers in its historic 1925 building at 9th and Market. Small groups are part of its congregational life.
