About University Place Presbyterian Church
University Place Presbyterian Church has served the University Place and Tacoma communities for nearly one hundred years, beginning in 1927 as a small mission Sunday school for children on Day Island before growing into an organized congregation in 1943. The church is grounded in a commitment to knowing, experiencing, and sharing the love of Jesus locally and tangibly through Bible study, Christian outreach, and missions. With approximately eighty thousand people living within a five-mile radius who don't yet have a church home, UPPC focuses on reaching its neighbors with Jesus' love intentionally, spontaneously, and through hands-on service. The congregation emphasizes children's ministry, the arts, and community care, reflecting core values that have been central to the church since its humble beginnings in a former tomato shed.
