About St Agnes Catholic Church
St. Agnes Catholic Church is a Catholic parish in Charleston’s Kanawha City area with roots dating to 1923, when it was formed from Sacred Heart Parish. Its first Mass was offered by Fr. William A. Lee with forty parishioners in a pool room opposite the glass works. A church and school building was erected on MacCorkle Avenue in 1924, and Archbishop John Swint dedicated St. Agnes Church and School at the present location in 1957. St. Agnes School closed in 2020. The parish offers Sunday Mass in English and Spanish and is served by Rev. Phillip R. Szabo, pastor.
