About Newman Center Catholic Chapel
Newman Center Catholic Chapel serves Catholic students and the broader Fairmont community at Fairmont State University. Named after Cardinal John Henry Newman, a prominent 19th-century theologian and convert to Catholicism, the center is part of a global network of Newman Centers dedicated to providing spiritual formation and community for students at non-denominational institutions. The chapel offers Sunday Mass at 5 PM during the academic year, followed by a free dinner for all attendees. Beyond liturgical worship, the center fosters faith formation through Bible studies, evening prayer (Vespers), community nights featuring art projects and games, and various outreach activities. The welcoming community includes dedicated student leadership and campus ministry, and all are invited to participate in the center's vibrant spiritual and social life.
