About Congregational Church Ucc
The Amery Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, was founded in 1891 when church workers and seminary students from Oberlin College arrived in Amery and began revival meetings, eventually establishing a permanent building at the same address on Harriman Avenue. As a member of the United Church of Christ and descendant of the Congregational tradition, the church embraces local autonomy and believes Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, recognizing the Bible as inspired scripture and practicing two sacraments: baptism and open communion. The congregation explicitly welcomes all people regardless of where they are in life's journey, who they love, or how they identify, and emphasizes support for everyone in their faith community. The church maintains an active ministry to the Amery region and invites both members and community members to participate in worship services held on Sunday mornings, as well as various community events and outreach activities throughout the year.
