About Ascension Lutheran Church
Ascension Lutheran Church, located in Shiocton, Wisconsin, traces its roots to December 7, 1869, when Reverend Homme conducted the first worship service for Norwegian settlers in a log home in Shawano County. Today, the congregation represents a blend of modern and traditional approaches, hosting contemporary services that incorporate Lutheran hymns and traditions every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. The church serves its community through multiple Bible studies throughout the week, youth programs including Sunday School and Confirmation classes, and special seasonal services such as Lenten observances, a Polka Service, and a Lesson and Carols Service. Ascension also fosters fellowship through annual events like a spring Fish Fry and a summer "Drive Your Tractor to Church" celebration, along with a community Vacation Bible School. Under the pastoral leadership of Mark and Marcia Sabin, the congregation welcomes visitors to share in worship and join the various ministry opportunities available throughout the year.
