St. Matthias Episcopal Church has served the downtown Waukesha community since 1844 and now operates as a shared ministry with First Presbyterian Church, uniting Episcopal and Presbyterian traditions in worship and mission. The congregation welcomes seekers, thinkers, and doubters, emphasizing inclusive love and affirming members of the LGBTQIA+ community with full sacramental access. They are deeply engaged in local outreach, hosting PFLAG Waukesha and providing support to those experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges. Services draw from the richness of both Anglican and Reformed liturgical traditions, combining contemplative worship with active service to others. Service Format: The 8 AM Sunday service uses Rite I traditional Elizabethan English without music; the 10 AM service includes music and features the church choir.
