About Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod
The Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) Center for Mission and Ministry in Waukesha represents a denomination of nearly 360,000 members across nearly 1,300 congregations in the United States and Canada. WELS is rooted in the Lutheran tradition dating back over 175 years, when three pastors serving German immigrants in Wisconsin joined together in common fellowship. The synod emphasizes gospel-centered teaching based on the Lutheran Confessions and the authority of Scripture.
