About Comea Shelter
COMEA (Cooperative Ministry for Emergency Assistance) has served the Cheyenne community since 1982 as an emergency homeless shelter dedicated to providing safe housing, nutritious meals, case management, and supportive services to anyone experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in Laramie County, Wyoming. Born from the collaborative effort of local churches recognizing the need for coordinated assistance, COMEA has grown from a sparingly furnished single room to a comprehensive resource center offering emergency shelter for all individuals, transitional housing for singles, and family services. The organization operates on the principle that assistance should be available to anyone in need, providing free meals, showers, clothing, hygiene items, and professional case management to help residents rebuild independence and reconnect with community resources. COMEA welcomes guests regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, or criminal record, and continues to expand its programs to meet the growing needs of the vulnerable population it serves.
