About First Baptist Church Of Berkeley
First Baptist Church of Berkeley was a founding congregation of The Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists, dedicated to living out the good news of God's love for all people. After 133 years of faithful service beginning in 1889, the church closed its doors, having served as a vibrant and inclusive family of faith in Berkeley, California. The congregation cherished distinctively Baptist freedoms including soul freedom, church freedom, Bible freedom, and religious freedom, and encouraged all members to participate in worship, teaching, and spiritual leadership. The church was committed to providing space for spiritual exploration and growth, believing that all persons are essential parts of the body of Christ.
