About St Athanasius Orthodox Church
St. Athanasius Orthodox Church is a vibrant faith community in Santa Barbara founded in 1987, serving believers of all ages and backgrounds within the ancient Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch. The parish welcomes visitors to experience Orthodox Christian worship through the Divine Liturgy and other traditional services, preserving the apostolic faith and practices handed down through centuries. Many congregants have journeyed to Orthodoxy from other Christian traditions, creating a diverse and welcoming community. The church recently moved into a newly constructed building in 2014 and continues an active building campaign to expand their worship facilities. Visitors are invited to "come and see" the beauty of Orthodox Christianity and join in the ancient forms of worship, prayer, and sacramental life that characterize the Eastern Orthodox tradition.
