About Orthodox Church
The Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Santa Maria, California, is a welcoming parish rooted in the ancient Orthodox Christian tradition. Founded in 1979 by John Warren and a small group of Orthodox families on the Central Coast, the community has grown from fifteen families meeting in borrowed spaces to an established parish with a dedicated chapel and plans for a new temple. The parish celebrates the Divine Liturgy each Sunday at 10:00 AM, preceded by Great Vespers on Saturday evenings, and offers Coffee Hour fellowship after Sunday services. With many young families and converts from diverse backgrounds, the community emphasizes biblical study, prayer, and the spiritual depth of Orthodox worship through sacred icons, ancient hymns, and the living faith preserved across centuries.
