About Religious Society Of Friends
Honolulu Friends Meeting is a Quaker congregation in Hawaii that has been serving the local community since its founding in 1937. The meeting worships in silence, unprogrammed, without choirs or sermons, seeking to listen for God's message through the Inner Light present in each person. Based on Quaker testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, and equality, the meeting welcomes all seekers and emphasizes continuing revelation available to everyone. The meetinghouse, built on a quarter-acre lot, serves not only as a place of worship but as a symbol of tolerance and peace within the broader community. Visitors are warmly invited to join weekly Sunday worship, and the meeting offers a First Day School program on the fourth Sunday of each month to help guide children in spiritual and moral development.

Dress Code: Modern Quakers dress in all sorts of ways, with no special requirements. Service Format: Unprogrammed silent worship beginning when worshippers enter the room and concluding when the clerk shakes hands with another worshipper; visitors are invited to introduce themselves after worship, followed by announcements. Visitor Tips: Settle for a few minutes before worship begins; do not be anxious about distracting thoughts; anyone may be moved to speak in response to the spirit that arises from shared silence; members of Worship and Ministry are happy to answer questions about Quakerism and welcome visitors more fully.
