Saint Matthew Catholic Church, founded in 1857 in Mount Vernon, Indiana, stands as a historic and active parish serving the community for over 165 years. The church building, constructed in 1879, houses remarkable treasures including 14 Holy Helpers Stained Glass Windows shipped from Germany in the 1920s and a first-class relic of Saint Pantaleon. Saint Matthew Parish operates as a welcoming community dedicated to celebrating Jesus Christ's love through praise, sacraments, service, and fellowship. The parish supports a K-5 school, religious education programs for youth and adults, and numerous ministry opportunities including Saint Vincent de Paul outreach and various volunteer groups.
