First United Methodist Church in downtown South Bend welcomes all people regardless of faith background, identity, culture, or ability. The church blends traditional and contemporary worship styles, featuring strong preaching, an engaged congregation, organ music, and talented singers in a historic sanctuary. As part of the Reconciling Ministries Network, the church is deeply committed to LGBTQ+ inclusion and intersectional justice. Beyond Sunday worship at 10 AM, First United Methodist operates the Downtown Soup Kitchen, which has served the community for over 30 years, and hosts various ministries designed to connect people to God and one another. Children of all ages are actively welcomed in worship, with a Prayground for young children and Children's Church available for ages four through fifth grade.
