About Churches United
Churches United of the Quad City Area is an ecumenical coalition representing over 140 churches across more than 20 Christian faith traditions serving the greater Quad Cities region. Founded in 1961 as the Council of Churches of Scott and Rock Island Counties and expanded in 1990 to reflect the community's growing religious diversity, Churches United operates one of the largest hunger relief programs in the bi-county area with 25 food pantries and 2 free meal sites serving dinner six days a week throughout the year. Beyond food assistance, the organization provides emergency financial help through CareLINK for rent and utilities, operates Winnie's Place, a shelter for homeless women and children and domestic violence survivors, and connects individuals in crisis with counseling and community resources. Driven by a commitment to integrity, compassion, and cooperation among member churches, Churches United serves hundreds of thousands of residents annually in their mission to help those in need.
