Gospel Mission Temple is a multiethnic church located in Davenport, Iowa, founded on June 27, 1984 by Bishop Dr. Jimmie R. Horton and his wife Evangelist Lady Michelle Horton. Beginning in the basement of their home, the church has grown substantially and now operates on 35 acres with facilities valued at over 10 million dollars, including the Family Life Educational Center dedicated in 2003. The congregation reflects many nations and backgrounds, including African Americans, Caucasians, Asians, Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans, Italians, and others. The church maintains an extensive range of ministries spanning youth activities, community outreach, counseling services, education programs including the Shining Light Learning Center, and spiritual development through the Obadiah and Julia McInnis School of Ministries. Under Bishop Horton's leadership as a certified counselor and former educator, Gospel Mission Temple emphasizes growth in the knowledge and application of God's Word while serving the broader community.
