About Christ Episcopal Church/Christ Lutheran Chapel
Christ Episcopal Church/Christ Lutheran Chapel is an ecumenical congregation in Elizabethtown where the Episcopal Church USA and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America worship together. Its current church building was consecrated on April 2, 1851, with plans drawn by Bishop Benjamin Bosworth Smith, and the church describes it as the best example of Gothic Revival architecture in Hardin County. After 137 years as a dependent mission of the Diocese of Kentucky, the congregation became a parish in 1988. Marriott Hall was added in 1954 and remodeled and enlarged in 1993-1994. The church’s weekly life includes Sunday Holy Eucharist, midweek Compline, Knowledge Seekers, Sisters of Sobriety, youth group, and small groups.
