About St Rita's Church
St Rita's Church is located in Alexandria, Louisiana, as part of the Diocese of Alexandria, a Catholic diocese established in 1853 to serve the spiritual needs of northern Louisiana. With a rich history spanning over 170 years, the diocese has grown from five priests and five churches to a vibrant faith community. The cathedral of the diocese is dedicated to Saint Francis Xavier, whose patronage is reflected in the diocesan coat of arms designed in 1933. Under the leadership of Bishop Robert W. Marshall, Jr., the thirteenth bishop installed in 2020, St Rita's continues the tradition of Catholic worship and community service in the heart of Louisiana.
