About Fitzgerald United Methodist Church
Fitzgerald United Methodist Church is a Methodist congregation in Covington with traditional and blended worship on Sunday mornings. Its roots reach back to around 1816, when Thomas J. Fitzgerald and local Irish families helped establish the church community. A Sunday school began on the property before the church developed, and the congregation’s story includes a move and renovation of the church building in 1955, the addition of a school building and fellowship hall in 1958, and a new sanctuary built in 2002. The church describes itself as small, with a large commitment to service for the community, and offers children’s ministry and a youth group.
