About Maine Sea Coast Mission
Maine Seacoast Mission has been a trusted friend along the Maine coast for over 120 years, rooted in a history of compassionate service and mutual trust. Founded by two Congregational ministers, the Mission strengthens coastal and island communities by fostering education, good health, wellbeing, and a sense of belonging through healthcare, food security, youth development, housing support, and spiritual enrichment. The organization operates across six Maine counties, with the iconic Sunbeam serving as a floating community center bringing nurses, telehealth, meals, and educational programming to unbridged islands. The Mission welcomes all visitors regardless of religious belief or church membership, honoring a spiritual center that values wholeness and respects people, community, and diversity. Through partnerships with 93 community organizations and the dedication of 174 volunteers, the Mission connects people to their strengths and builds hopeful, resilient communities.
