Ohr Kodesh Congregation, established in 1948, was the first Jewish institution in Montgomery County, Maryland. This Conservative Jewish congregation welcomes a diverse membership seeking to balance traditional observance with contemporary interests. Service Format: Services are offered in person and via Zoom, with Shacharit services Monday through Friday at 7:15 a.m. and Sunday/federal holidays at 9 a.m., and Ma'ariv services Sunday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Shabbat services begin with Minchah and Kabbalat Shabbat at 6 p.m., followed by morning services at 9 a.m. Visitor Tips: Newcomers are invited to join a Shabbat or holiday service, tour the award-winning religious school and early childhood program, or participate in one of the congregation's many adult classes and social functions.
