Memorial Chapel at the University of Maryland stands as a multifaith sacred space dedicated in 1952 to honor members of the university community who served in the armed forces. Open to all faiths, cultures, and ways of being, the chapel serves the campus community, alumni, and surrounding communities through worship services, spiritual programs, and peaceful reflection. The facility hosts fourteen faith communities representing diverse religious traditions, from Baptist and Catholic to Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, and Methodist ministries. Beyond worship, the chapel functions as a venue for lectures, concerts, and ceremonies, maintaining its role as a central gathering place for both religious and secular campus life. Visitors are welcome to explore the chapel and adjacent gardens during weekday hours, and guided tours are available during monthly open house events.
