About Oak Chapel United Methodist Church
Oak Chapel United Methodist Church, located in Silver Spring's Aspen Hills neighborhood, traces its history to 1886 when it was built beneath a grove of oak trees from which it derives its name. The congregation has expanded significantly over the decades, adding an education building with a year-round daycare center and Boyer Hall, a multi-purpose facility that now houses Sunday worship services. As a United Methodist community, Oak Chapel centers its mission on making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world through three core commitments: celebrating God's love in worship and fellowship, connecting through ministries and studies that deepen discipleship, and caring for the community through mission and outreach. Worship services are held on Sunday mornings in Boyer Hall, and the church also offers online worship options for those unable to attend in person. Under the leadership of Interim Pastor Reverend Clyde Nelson, Oak Chapel welcomes visitors to come and grow together in faith and service.
