About St Gregory Orthodox Church
St. Gregory Orthodox Church is a Western Rite Orthodox congregation in Silver Spring, Maryland, part of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese. Founded in 1996, the parish uses the ancient liturgy of St. Gregory, authorized by the Patriarchate of Antioch, making it accessible to those familiar with pre-1962 Roman Catholic or Anglican worship traditions. The community welcomes visitors of all backgrounds, including those new to Orthodoxy or exploring Christian faith, and emphasizes growth in knowledge and love of God through shared worship and fellowship. Led by Fr. Nicholas Richard Alford, a former Episcopal priest, and Fr. Jeffrey Raphael Garcia, a former Roman Catholic priest, the congregation serves as a bridge between Western liturgical traditions and Orthodox theology.
