About Romanian Orthodox Episcopate

The Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America is an archdiocese of the Orthodox Church in America serving Romanian Orthodox parishes, missions, and monasteries across the United States and Canada. Headquartered at Vatra Românească in Jackson, Michigan, the Episcopate maintains a rich heritage tracing back to Romanian Orthodox immigrants of the early twentieth century who established their first parishes in North America. Today the organization encompasses numerous parishes and three monasteries while preserving Romanian cultural traditions alongside the fullness of Orthodox Christian faith. Led by Archbishop Nathaniel since 1984, the Episcopate conducts its spiritual and administrative life through Church Congresses, an Episcopate Council, and a network of dedicated clergy and lay leaders. The Episcopate is canonically under the jurisdiction of the Orthodox Church in America and serves as a founding member of both the World Council of Churches and the National Council of Churches of Christ in the United States of America.
