About Rose Hill Baptist Church

Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, located in Natchez, Mississippi, is the oldest organized Black Baptist church in the state, established in the 1800s before the Civil War. The congregation traces its roots to Randle Pollard, the founding pastor, and took its name from the Rose family who donated the land. Originally a frame structure, the church was rebuilt in 1908 following a devastating fire and features a historic Moeller Organ installed in 1912. Recognized for its architectural and cultural significance, the church was placed on the National Historic Register in 1983. Rose Hill is described as a warm and welcoming community that serves all ages, offering Sunday School, choir ministries, deacon and trustee leadership, and various outreach programs including nutritional assistance and hospitality ministries.
