About Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church
Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a Roman Catholic parish in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, with a rich history dating back to 1909 when the Diocese of Newark established it as a mission church. Originally housed in a converted building that once served as a Presbyterian church, the parish has grown significantly over the decades and became an independent parish in 1966 under Father Patrick Fitzpatrick's leadership. The community constructed a parish center in 1971 to accommodate religious education, parish gatherings, and overflow capacity for Mass. Today, under the pastoral care of Reverend Ernest G. Rush, the parish continues its mission to know, love, and serve God through the Gospel message of Jesus Christ in an environment where all are valued and welcomed to grow in faith.
