About Mt Zion Ame Church
Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church in New Brunswick, New Jersey, is the oldest African American church in Middlesex County, with roots tracing back to its founding in 1827 by Joseph and Jane Hoagland and other Black community members. The congregation has grown into a thriving ministry under the leadership of Senior Pastor W. Golden Carmon and Assistant Pastor Mattie A. Carmon, dedicated to building a vibrant Christian community based on biblical principles and serving as agents of positive change in the greater New Brunswick and Middlesex County area. The church offers multiple worship opportunities throughout the week, including Sunday services, prayer calls, and Bible study, with both in-person and virtual participation options available to members and visitors.
