About First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church in Newton is a Baptist congregation with a blended worship style and a long history in the community. The church says its history reaches back almost 200 years, with its building dedicated on February 25, 1847. After a fire damaged the original building in 1910, a new white brick building was raised and dedicated on May 7, 1911, by Pastor John R. Humphreys. The church is part of the Venture Church Network, Mid-Atlantic Region, and says it is loosely associated with The Gospel Coalition. Ministries include children’s ministry, youth group, small groups, and a women’s Bible study.
