About Hamakom

HaMakom is a welcoming Jewish community in Santa Fe that draws from both the Renewal and Conservative traditions. Founded in 2000 following High Holiday services led by Rabbi Emerita Malka Drucker, the congregation was officially established with support from musician Debbie Friedman. Today, worship is led by Rabbi Jack Shlachter, who holds a Ph.D. in physics and was ordained in 1995, alongside Hazzan Cindy Freedman, a professional singer and guitarist ordained through ALEPH in 2014. The community engages people in the power of prayer through music and sound while maintaining a commitment to Jewish traditions and values. HaMakom stands in unwavering support of Israel as the eternal homeland of the Jewish people.
