About Israel Ame Church
Israel AME Church, founded in 1828, stands as the oldest Black church in Upstate New York and holds the distinction of having served as a station on the Underground Railroad. Located in Albany and pastored by Rev. Kevin T. Taylor since June 2021, the church embraces its motto, "Making History and Disciples Since 1828," reflecting both its historic significance and present mission to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ and draw people into discipleship. The congregation gathers for morning worship each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and Bible Study on Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m., with services offered in hybrid format for both in-person and remote participation. Israel AME Church remains actively engaged in serving the Albany community and beyond through spiritual development, community outreach, and Christian education.
