About Roman Catholic Oratory of St. Anthony of Padua
The Roman Catholic Oratory of St. Anthony of Padua, located in downtown Buffalo, was founded in 1891 to serve Italian immigrants and maintain the Catholic faith among the Italian-American community. The church has hosted notable figures including St. Giovanni Battista Scalabrini and Mother Frances Xavier Cabrini, America's first citizen to be canonized as a saint. Since 1990, St. Anthony's has been the home of the Traditional Latin Mass community for the Diocese of Buffalo. Currently under the pastoral care of the Fathers and Brothers of St. Philip Neri House since 2024, the Oratory continues to serve as the mother church for Western New York and Southern Ontario's Italian-American Catholic community within the Diocese of Buffalo's Downtown Family of Parishes.
