About Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church

Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church began as a humble Sunday school in 1906 in the home of Flora and Samuel P. Kidder, who were deeply concerned that children on Jamestown's south side had limited access to church life. What started with fourteen pupils quickly grew, eventually leading to the construction of a chapel in 1907 and the establishment of a formal church in 1919. The congregation built their current church building in 1928 and joined the United Methodist tradition during the 1968 merger of the Evangelical United Brethren and Methodist denominations. Today, Kidder Memorial welcomes all who seek to grow in faith, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey, and invites visitors to experience meaningful worship, study of scripture, and Christian community in the heart of Jamestown.
