About St Malachy's Roman Catholic Church
St. Malachy's Roman Catholic Church, established in 1858 to serve Sherburne's Irish immigrant community, stands as a French Gothic landmark at 29 East State Street. The parish has grown from private home gatherings to a vibrant faith community, rebuilding its beautiful church after a devastating 1942 fire that destroyed its roof but miraculously spared the hand-painted stained glass windows from Munich. Today, St. Malachy's welcomes all who seek spiritual fellowship, offering a fully accessible building with an elevator near handicap parking, weekday and weekend Masses, and numerous ministries including eucharistic adoration, reconciliation, and home communion visits for the elderly and homebound. The church emphasizes its warm, inclusive community rooted in Christ's love and remains an active spiritual home in the heart of Sherburne.
