About Congregation Berith Sholom
Congregation Berith Sholom is a progressive Reform synagogue located in Troy, New York, founded in 1866 and housed in New York's oldest building in continuous use as a synagogue, built in 1870. Under the spiritual leadership of Rabbi Debora S. Gordon for nearly two and a half decades, the congregation welcomes all who are inspired by Judaism's teachings and traditions, regardless of background or membership status. The community emphasizes inclusive worship, lifelong learning, and Tikkun Olam—acts of repair and justice in the world—fostered through a renowned volunteer choir, active event calendar including Torah study and volunteer opportunities, and a caring, diverse membership. Dress Code: Dress respectfully; there is no formal dress code.
