About Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church
Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, founded in 1801 by Bishop Francis Asbury, is the oldest Methodist church in Western North Carolina and has served the North Asheville community for over two centuries. Located at 171 Beaverdam Road on the corner of Beaverdam and Kimberly Avenue, this historic congregation worships in a sanctuary built in 1928. The church is deeply committed to inclusivity and welcomes people of all races, nationalities, ages, socio-economic statuses, abilities, sexual orientations, and gender identities. Asbury Memorial seeks to inspire Christian discipleship, reach out in love and service, create opportunities for spiritual growth, and celebrate God's love through worship.
