Archangel Raphael and Saint John the Beloved Coptic Orthodox Church is a Coptic Orthodox congregation in Chapel Hill. The congregation prayed its first liturgy on January 3, 2009, and purchased 21 acres of land the following year, on August 19, 2010. Construction of the new church began in January 2012, and the congregation moved into its church on Old Lystra Road in November 2012. The first liturgy there was celebrated on November 18, 2012. The church’s life is centered in the liturgical worship and sacramental tradition of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
