Chapel Hill Friends Meeting is an unprogrammed Quaker congregation established in 1937 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, affiliated with the Piedmont Friends Yearly Meeting. The meeting gathers in silent expectation without clergy, liturgy, or set sermon, allowing space for spiritual revelation and vocal ministry as members are moved by the Spirit. Dress Code: Casual, comfortable clothing is the norm; visitors wear shorts, t-shirts, dresses, and jeans according to personal preference. Service Format: Unprogrammed silent worship lasting about an hour, during which anyone moved by the Spirit may speak; the hour closes with a handshake shared among all gathered. Visitor Tips: Arrive a few minutes before 11 AM on Sunday, enter through the front door, and sit anywhere in the meeting room; new visitors are invited to introduce themselves at the close of worship but are not required to do so. Parking is available in the meeting house lot or the adjacent free UNC visitor lot. Childcare and First Day School classes are available for children. No offering is expected from visitors, though donation information is available in the foyer.
